Hace muy poco, las Naciones Unidas, en su \u00abAgenda 2030 para el Desarrollo Sostenible\u00bb, hicieron un llamamiento a la acci\u00f3n internacional para combatir la hepatitis viral y reducir la carga de la enfermedad. La principal causa de muerte es el virus de la hepatitis B (VHB), que provoca cirrosis y c\u00e1ncer de h\u00edgado. En todo el mundo, m\u00e1s de 1 mill\u00f3n de seres humanos mueren cada a\u00f1o por las consecuencias de una infecci\u00f3n por VHB.<\/p>\n<p>Existe una vacuna profil\u00e1ctica para prevenir la infecci\u00f3n por VHB, pero m\u00e1s del 3% de la poblaci\u00f3n mundial (unos 254 millones de seres humanos) est\u00e1n infectados cr\u00f3nicamente y ya no se benefician de esa vacuna. TherVacB se evaluar\u00e1 en un ensayo cl\u00ednico que comenzar\u00e1 en junio de 2025 y se llevar\u00e1 a cabo en Europa y en \u00c1frica.
