Barts Health NHS Trust
General Information
Barts Health is an NHS trust which operates five hospitals throughout the City of London and East London. It is the second largest NHS Trust in the UK, with more than 16,000 employees, and one of the largest viral hepatitis services in the UK. Professor Patrick Kennedy leads a thriving clinical service in the management of CHB with over 6,000 patients under his care at Barts Health NHS Trust and the East London Network. He initiated the delivery of a multidisciplinary service for all centres for the management of CHB forming a genuine hub and spoke network. This has streamlined patient management, improved local care pathways and fostered cross-site working and delivery to clinical trials. This clinical service, one of the largest in the UK, has placed Barts Health as a global lead on a number of novel trials in CHB; currently >10 industry-led Phase 1, 2 & 3 clinical trials. Furthermore, Professor Kennedy has a longstanding track record in translational research, which dovetails the CHB clinical trial portfolio, raising the bar for clinical and translational research at Barts Health.
